There are many other factors associated with healthcare other than the visit with your provider. Often times you need other diagnostic testing to help your provider determine what’s wrong or simply for preventive screening purposes. At Medical Arts Clinic we offer the convenience of having many of those services available here in our office. Among these services are:

  • Blood and Urine testing
  • X-ray services
  • Bone Density
  • Allergy Testing
  • Pulmonary Function
  • Hearing Tests

Medical Arts Clinic has a COLA accredited, CLIA waived laboratory on site. There is no appointment necessary for lab work. Here at the clinic we do perform some basic lab tests on site. We are able to do urinalysis, simple drug testing, PT/INR finger sticks and Hemoglobin A1C finger sticks. However, for our patients exclusively, to avoid having to go elsewhere for your blood draw, we have a phlebotomist on site who will draw your samples and send them out to be processed.

We have an electronic interface with Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) and for most routine testing we receive results by the next business day. Your results are available to you on our patient portal as well. All send out labs are sent to CPL unless your insurance requires that you use a specific Laboratory and we can arrange for them to pick up your sample.

Alternative Lab Solutions (ALS) by Medical Arts Clinic is a revolutionary alternative to the high cost of healthcare. We have partnered with Clinical Pathology Laboratories to provide and affordable solution for lab tests for the un-insured, under insured or patients with high deductibles. We are able to offer many lab tests at a fraction of the cost you would pay at the lab directly. There is no appointment necessary, just bring your doctor’s orders and a copy will be sent directly to them. You may also obtain a copy of your lab results at any time. Payment is expected at the time of service and we accept cash, check, MasterCard and Visa.

Erin Russell, LMRT is our licensed radiation technologist with 20 years’ experience in her field. Erin is always professional and kind and takes excellent care of our patients. We offer basic X-ray services to assess bone fractures as well as Chest X-rays to evaluate pulmonary disease and breathing problems. We also offer Bone Density exams to for Osteoporosis evaluation. Our physicians read their own x-rays and will be able to provide you with results and feedback the same day.

We offer basic hearing screening exams. Whether it is for screening purposes or you are having trouble hearing we can start the process to identify the problem here at our office. If there is a need for further evaluation you will be sent to a specialist.

We offer PFT testing to our patients who suffer from asthma, COPD and other breathing disorders. Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help your healthcare provider diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders. A PFT can be used to diagnose and treat breathing disorders that are Obstructive, when the air has trouble flowing out of the lungs due to airway resistance, as well as, Restrictive, when the lung tissue or chest muscles can’t expand enough.

There are many different reasons why PFTs may be done. They are sometimes done in healthy people as part of a routine physical. They are also routinely done in certain types of work environments to ensure employee health (such as graphite factories and coal mines). Or you may have PFTs if your healthcare provider needs help to diagnose you with a health problem such as allergies, respiratory infections and chronic lung conditions such as, asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis. It is recommended that all patients with chronic breathing illnesses have a PFT at least once a year.

We offer comprehensive allergy diagnostic services to include both Environmental and Food allergy Testing in order to accurately identify your complete allergy symptomatology. We only test for the most predominant allergens in order to minimize the financial and physical impact on our patients. We follow the AAAAI Guidelines and Practice Parameters for allergy testing and immunotherapy.

To be evaluated for allergy testing you first must make an appointment with one of our doctors. During that consultation your allergy concerns will be reviewed, you will receive a basic Ear Nose & Throat exam and the doctor will review your current medications and determine any conflicts or contraindications for allergy testing. Your Provider may require you to stop taking certain prescription and over the counter mediations for a certain period of time prior to being allergy tested.

The allergy test can be performed on either your back or arms and your appointment will take about an hour. For many patients the cost of your allergy test will be covered by an “Office Visit Co-Pay”. Shanna Shaw, LVN, has 13 years of nursing experience and has been trained and educated in allergy testing and immunotherapy. The test is performed via Percutaneous Allergy Testing, sometimes referred to as “Scratch” or “Skin-Prick”, and can cause slight discomfort for some patients but it is not painful, it does not use needles or draw blood.

We will contact your insurance to make sure it is a covered service and any out of pocket expense will be communicated to you before we begin the process. Once approved, you will be schedule for your testing appointment with Shanna. You will be given your results and recommendations for therapy at the conclusion of your testing appointment

Subcutaneous Immunotherapy

Most commonly referred to as “allergy shots”, subcutaneous immunotherapy has been part of mainstream medicine for nearly a century. It has proven to be effective at reducing environmental allergy sensitivity for many years after the treatment has been completed. Your safety and care is our greatest concern, and we will closely monitor your treatment and progress while minimizing the number of office visits you will be required to make.

Sublingual Immunotherapy

In a time when health insurance premiums are rising and many affordable plans require you to pay higher deductibles, sublingual immunotherapy can offer you a safe and cost-effective alternative solution to your allergy suffering. This “self-pay” option can also provide you with a viable means to treat your allergies if you are not comfortable taking allergy injections. Feel free to ask our office for more information regarding this option.
